Taelor's Digital Portfolio

Hello! My name is Taelor Daugherty and I am a Georgia-based writer and Agnes Scott College alum with a B.A. in English Literature. My passion lies in building connections through literary media. I am able to alternate between a variety of mediums, from academic papers to social media captions. I have strong communication skills and an academic background in writing, editing, and humanities research.

In my undergraduate studies, I held a variety of leadership positions, including mentoring first-year students through my campus' extensive orientation program, coordinating a relationship between a nationwide media outlet and my university, and leading my college's student-produced publication editorial team. Media and Literary Commentary

My primary focus throughout my undergraduate years was on contemporary media. As a Her Campus writer, I wrote articles analyzing popular film and television series and the social implications of said series. Additionally, like every English major, I spend a significant amount of time reading and analyzing literary works. My undergraduate thesis had a focus of Young Adult speculative fiction with queer Black girls as the protagonists.

Creative Writing

The creative works I completed both as class assignments and during my spare time centered primarily on young Black women. Sometimes these women faced real-world challenges, such as within the story "The Box", and sometimes these problems were fantastical, as in "The Evergreen Diner". The genres I tend to explore are fantasy and magical realism, oftentimes with romance woven throughout the narrative.

Editorial Work

Alongside two editorial internships, the time I spent as an Agnes Scott Campus Correspondent for Her Campus Media amplified my interest in editorial work.
